Dial + Claude

Track meals with Claude. Keep them in Dial.

Connect your existing Dial account, describe a meal, and review the proposed foods before saving them to your iPhone food diary.

By the Dial team · Updated October 22, 2026

Claude is available now. Public ChatGPT connection is coming soon. Check current assistant availability before starting.

What you need

  • A Dial account and the latest available Dial iPhone app.
  • Your own Claude account, with access to connectors under Claude’s current plan and workspace rules.
  • The same Dial account you already use on your phone. Guest accounts can use app approval in a supported Dial version.

Assistant connections are optional. Dial’s own food search, scanning, manual entry, and recipes work without connecting Claude.

Connect your existing account

  1. Open Dial’s Claude listing

Go to Dial in Claude and sign into Claude. Check that the publisher is MacroMatic LLC, then choose Connect. For a personal food log in a team workspace, choose Connect just for me when offered.

  2. Approve the Dial connection

On the Dial connection page, choose Approve in Dial to use the account already on your iPhone, including a guest account. Review the assistant, account, and requested permissions before allowing the connection. Alternatively, sign in on the website with the same Apple Account or email you use in Dial. Do not create a replacement account.

  3. Let the browser finish setup

Keep using the browser where you started. Approval in Dial must return to that browser to finish. Wait until Claude shows the completed connection. If automatic app approval cannot finish, use the connection-code fallback in your original browser window and the app. Restart an expired request.

  4. Ask Claude to read your log

Open a Claude conversation with Dial connected and send: “Using Dial, show me today’s food log and my remaining macros.” If Dial provides a copied starter prompt, paste it into the conversation and send it yourself.

Prepare, review, then save a meal

Try: “I had yogurt and oats for breakfast. Prepare a Dial food entry for me to review. Ask me for any missing portions.”

Check the food names, amounts, units, and nutrition. Tell Claude what to change. When the draft looks right, explicitly ask it to save. Preparing a draft does not itself save a meal.

Return to Dial and let the food log refresh. Confirm that the saved foods and portions appear as expected. Nutrition estimates depend on the information provided; check them against labels or your own values when available.

Correct or undo an imported meal

If a portion is wrong, ask Claude to find the imported entry, prepare the correction for review, and save it after you confirm. You can also ask it to undo a meal saved through the connection. Be specific about which entry you mean, and check the updated diary afterward.

For example: “Find the yogurt I imported this morning and prepare a change from 100 g to 170 g. Show me the correction before saving.”

Understand what you share

Food permissions let the connected assistant access the food records and targets you request and save confirmed food entries. Separate weight permissions allow requested weigh-ins to be read or a confirmed weight to be recorded for today.

Dial receives the structured values sent to its tools, rather than your full assistant conversation or original meal photos. Claude processes your conversation and uploads under its own controls. Read connection privacy and the Dial privacy notice before connecting.

If something needs attention

My food is missing after connecting. What should I check?

Confirm that the connection uses the same Dial account as your phone. Refresh the food log and check that you confirmed the save. If you are unsure whether a save succeeded, ask Claude to read the log before asking it to save again.

I approved in Dial, but setup still looks pending.

Return to the browser where you started and allow setup to finish. Use Check connection in Dial if available. If the request expired or opened in another browser, restart setup or use the original browser’s code fallback.

How do I disconnect?

Remove Dial from Claude’s connections to stop using it there. Saved food remains in Dial. A disconnect made in Claude may not immediately update the Dial connection badge or revoke its Dial-side grant. Contact support for help revoking access; see connection privacy for details.

Can Claude save an earlier weight?

The current connection can read earlier recorded weigh-ins, but weight saves apply to today. Food logging and weight permissions are separate.
